(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) The E'klektik restaurant in SLC will close its doors for good on Jan. 31. The owners are selling all the "eclectic" items that made the restaurant unique including antiques, collectibles, jewelry, clothing, art and more.
Salt Lake City’s Eklektik restaurant has closed, but the owners are keeping the doors open through Sunday, hoping to sell all the colorful furniture, kitchenware and knickknacks that gave the restaurant its name.
“We are sad to leave all this,” said co-owner Sion Croudo, who, along with his wife, Aliza Levy, decided to move closer to family in California and Mexico. “It’s time to find something less stressful.”
The couple opened The Eklektik in 2017 at 60 E. 800 South, with Levy cooking and Croudo running the front of the house.
Part restaurant, part thrift store and art gallery, The Eklektik served a global menu, inspired by the flavors of Mexico, Europe and South America — places where the husband and wife had lived or visited.
Croudo and Levy also are collectors, but say they can’t take their eclectic stash with them.
They are putting it all up for sale.
Everything — from the painted chairs and antique lamps to beer signs, dishes and place mats — is being sold. Even some items the owners had in storage — like bicycles, kitchen equipment and Christmas ornaments — are available.
Bargain hunters can snag embroidered clothing from Mexico, earrings depicting famed artist Frida Kahlo, as well as purses and an antique calculator for bargain prices.
Eklektik mementos are on sale through Sunday between noon and 7 p.m. at the restaurant.
