Letter: There should be a second election six months after a person is elected

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Signs direct people arriving to vote at Trolley Square in Salt Lake City during primary Election Day on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.

Here’s an idea: Our system of electing representatives has no requirement for our politicians to tell the truth when running for office.

We should have two elections. The first one would be as usual. The second one would be six months after the person is elected.

We would then get to observe what the politician actually does, and can make a more enlightened decision. That might cost a little in the beginning, but would save us a ton of headaches over the next 4 to 6 years.
