I was introduced to The Tribune as a young child by my father, now 95. I recall the days when The Tribune was Utah’s conservative voice. Moving from paper copy to digital was a huge adjustment, but we did it.
As I continue to read The Tribune daily, I am disappointed by the number of liberal, Democratic points of view you choose to print in your letters to the editor. 99% of those letters are against Republicans, conservatives and, mostly, Donald Trump.
I have read time after time how we should all be fearful of the election results and that the end of democracy is upon us. I continue to wonder why The Tribune is so supportive of the Democratic, liberal point of view. I believe that the daily newspaper for our state should be fair and balanced, not one-sided as it is on a daily basis.
883,799 people voted for Donald Trump in Utah — 59.4%. Kamala Harris received 37.8% of the Utah vote — most of which came from Salt Lake County, Wasatch County and Iron County. These votes follow the nationwide trend of populated areas voting blue.
When the majority of people in this state voted conservative, why does The Tribune continue to push the liberal agenda?
Your letters to the editor which you choose to print are not a reflection of the folks reading your paper. The Tribune continues the liberal trend. As my subscription renewal approaches, I’m questioning for the first time in 50 years whether I want to renew. The letters to the editor have always been my most enjoyable part of my daily read. But over the past few years I have turned away from them. Reading letters from all those folks who hate Donald Trump and conservatives is very disheartening, especially in a state that is so conservative.
Utah will never be blue.
My wish for 2025 is that the editors of The Salt Lake Tribune will put their political ideologies aside and become fair and balanced so those readers who are not Democrat and liberal, who subscribe to your paper in droves, will have the opportunity to read about those folks who are not liberal Democrats. I can’t be the only one who feels this way.
