Letter: Trump calls for “one real rough, nasty” day of police activity

On Jan. 6th, 2021, Donald Trump called upon private white supremacist militias to try to intimidate the Congress and show America just how serious he was about getting his way.

Mr. Trump has just now upped the ante considerably for something that could take place Nov. 6 or Jan. 6, 2025, or on any different day of his choosing. This time he is appealing to duly sworn-in public police officers to ignore their oaths and thumb their noses at civilian government control of law enforcement.

Candidate Trump is asking for a day of police vigilante activity not a lot different than what Hitler asked his police forces to participate in on “Kristallnacht,” the night of broken glass in Germany. This was the exact event that consolidated his terrorist control over Germany and propelled him into long-term power in Europe.

Trump is appealing for “one real rough, nasty” and “violent” day of police activity so scary to criminals it will eradicate crime “immediately.” The former president failed to mention that it will also eradicate the voice of reason and science, the law of “peaceable assembly,” constitutional due process, and the Christian teaching of “love thy neighbor.” In sum, it will take the justice out of our 400-year-long criminal justice system.

After that day takes place, and it will, one of two things will happen. If that hallowed day fails to provide him with the reins of power, Trump will say, “Just kidding,” like he did after Jan. 6, 2021. On the other hand, if that day succeeds in installing him in power, it will inaugurate that other infamous “day” of dictatorship he promised the nation if he is elected.

Just kidding . . . it will be four years of it.
