Letter: Student loan forgiveness moves Cox to speak out. Not so the gondola.

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Gov. Spencer Cox speaks at his monthly news conference at the Eccles Broadcast Center, on Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022.

Once again the state of Utah is showing just where its priorities lie. Recently Gov. Spencer Cox wrote a letter to President Joe Biden asking him to repeal the student loan forgiveness program that would benefit 300,000 Utahns, stating it would “shift the burden of the debt to working Americans and has a regressive impact that harms lower income families.”

Did Cox think about that when he decided to support UDOT’s plan for a $500 million gondola project up Little Cottonwood Canyon that will only benefit two major ski resorts, Snowbird and Alta?

What kind of impact will that have on Utah families and taxpayers?
