Letter: Great to hear Millcreek will help with housing the homeless this winter

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Millcreek will host a temporary overflow homeless shelter, as the former Calvin S. Smith Library at 810 E. 3300 South is prepared on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022, for this winter to keep unsheltered Utahns out of the cold.

Sometimes it seems like good news is hard to find, so I was delighted to find out that Millcreek is going to be home to a “temporary overflow homeless shelter” this winter. I don’t know why this state that always claims to have such a great economy and such great values is having such a hard time with the simple solution to homelessness. It’s homes! Until we figure out how to successfully allocate resources to the needy, temporary overflow shelters will hopefully help out a lot. YIMBY.

Wes Sadler, Millcreek
