As Utah grows its population and economy, it is prudent that as civilians we continue to support this great state and its businesses. Downtown, there are countless restaurants, shops, and facilities that the majority of Salt Lake City residents have never even seen.
The more we get out of our comfort zones and try new things, the better these places do. In return, the economy benefits us.
A great local eatery I’d recommend is ROCTACO, located on 248 S. Edison St. I just recently found it, and it is some of the best fusion food I have ever tried. I know other small businesses like this exist in Salt Lake, and I believe it is the responsibility of every person to support their neighbors. Instead of going to your favorite chain restaurant tomorrow, try a new place that actually appreciates your business. Try shopping in local outlets instead of the big-name suppliers who could take or leave your support. Having a stronger sense of community pride will help Utah as it continues to grow as an up-and-coming marketplace, and fuel small businesses from being run out of town by larger, better equipped franchise stores.
