Letter: The Supreme Court is on the attack. We must strike back with our votes.

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) Voters cast their ballots at Ogden's Union Station during Utah's Super Tuesday primary, Mar. 3, 2020,

The Republican Party has a new weapon in its war on women — the U.S. Supreme Court. The unprecedented “leak” that the Court has voted to overturn Roe vs. Wade proves it is now a political branch, leaving no reason for the public to respect its decisions. Leaking the verdict will not make the news more palatable. Attacking women is not palatable.

Taking away women’s constitutional right to healthcare has nothing to do with being pro-life, especially when it will have the opposite effect. This shows no concern for the lives of women nor for the children they are forced to birth. Conservatives work to outlaw women’s medical care, while working to cut vital programs that feed, educate and care for children whose lives they are claiming to protect. They are not pro-life. They are pro-fetus. They are pro-forced birth and anti-women.

The next battle in this war will be in November. While it appears that the conservative court is on the attack, it’s time to strike back with our votes.
