Letter: To Bee or not to Bee: Sports for the 1%

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) The Salt Lake Bees open their season at Smith’s Ballpark Thursday night, May 6, 2021, after shutting down last season due to the pandemic.

Chris Helfrich has once again hit the nail on the head. Why should the city be considering lavish expenditures so the ski areas can increase their profits? I too have long since stopped skiing. I simply refuse to pay over $100 per person for a day on the slopes. And that gives me the opportunity to complain about the pricing at Smith’s Ballpark. Just a year or 2 ago, I could purchase general admission tickets to a Bees game for $10. Now, the same seats are $22. What are the chances an ordinary family with 3 or 4 kids will be heading out to see a game at these prices?
