Letter: Republican disregard for human life

(Rick Bowmer | AP file photo) Utah Gov. Gary Herbert walks through the Capitol rotunda to a COVID-19 briefing in Salt Lake City on Nov. 9, 2020.

Gov. Gary “Available Jones” Herbert continues his purge of Utah’s elderly.

Unable to show any backbone, Herbert curtseys to the Trumpets in the Republican Party, dropping the gathering limits and separate household ban. What this means is a continuation of increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases in our state.

As the CDC cautions the country on gatherings, Herbert turns a deaf ear to science. It amazes me that he has such vast wisdom that he can completely ignore everything that the experts say about COVID.

Utah families who have parents or grandparents who are approaching 70 or have reached that age should be up in arms with this decision.

Being a registered Republican, I’m appalled at the decision made by our leadership or, should I say, lack of leadership. When will this total disregard for life end and our Republican politicians put us before party?
