Letter: Propaganda works in Utah

Propaganda apparently works. Why else would so many, 58% of Utahns, vote for Donald Trump and Republican policies?

Propaganda works to get most North Koreans to think their leader, Kim Jung-un, is a god. Most Russians think Vladimir Putin is great. Germans in the 1930s thought Hitler was a god.

Propaganda works here in the USA, too. Right-wing media has convinced average working Americans to vote for Republicans, who repeatedly work to take health care away from millions of Americans.

Right-wing media has convinced voters to support Trump, even though he continually lies, works daily to undermine our democratic institutions and tries to steal our elections by undermining the post office, voter suppression, etc.

Trump and right-wing media use emotional issues such as guns, the flag and religion to motivate and divide voters. They do not want democracy, they want oligarchy.

The thing they fear most is that we will not see each other as enemies and will unite to move our country forward, with a more just America for all. We must reject hate and division.
