Letter: Pompeo’s recent tour of Europe and Mideast makes no sense

Why did Secretary of State Mike Pompeo undertake a seven country tour of Europe and the Mideast to discuss “global challenges”? Is Pompeo’s head in the sand? The world moved on congratulating and acknowledging President-elect Joe Biden as the new U.S. president. Before embarking on the tour, Pompeo declared a “smooth transition to a second Trump administration.”

Is Pompeo happy being Trump’s lapdog? Was this one last junket for Pompeo and his wife before the Trump administration’s demise? My guess is Pompeo expected a closing moment in the international limelight, which he failed to get. Still, stay tuned while Pompeo keeps an eye on the 2024 election!
