Letter: No ballot nicknames

(Scott Sommerdorf | Tribune file photo) Utah Auditor John Dougall takes his oath of office during the State of Utah's Inaugural Ceremony in the Capitol rotunda, Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017.

The incumbent Utah state auditor, John Dougall, has chosen to style himself “Frugal” on the ballot. This same moniker is used by Dougall as a campaign tool.

The lieutenant governor has discretion as to how names appear on the ballot. He should exercise his judgment and ban such politically charged “nicknames.”
