Letter: Trump is creating a dystopian future

(Chris Carlson | AP file photo) President Donald Trump attends an event at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, Thursday, Sept. 24, 2020, in Charlotte, N.C.

I don’t want my baby granddaughter to grow up in the world Donald Trump is creating. I don’t want her to go to school with children who think it is OK to talk like Trump, to bully, to make fun of others and to lie. I don’t want her to grow up in a world that is bombarded by erratic weather and on fire. I don’t want her to grow up in a world that is unhealthy.

I want her to grow up in a world where people treat others with common decency, and they try to understand the underlying causes of poverty, unrest and fear rather than send in armed guards to control it. I want her to grow up in a world where the truth matters and science is used to make decisions. I want her to be kind, and to care about others. I want her to be able to count the stars at night, enjoy the forests, swim in clean rivers and streams and breathe clean air. Most of all, I want her to be healthy.

I don’t want her to grow up in the world Trump is creating.
