Letter: Whether or not you believe it

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) Shoppers at Dan's Market in the Foothill Village Shopping Center in Salt Lake City pass a sign requiring masks upon entry on Thursday, July 2, 2020, as the coronavirus continues to surge.

Regarding Paul Sharp’s vitriolic letter “Road to totalitarianism”:

Sir, regardless of your take on “forced masking,” it is neither PC driven nor “unconstitutional.” Masking during an uncontrolled viral pandemic which shows to be, statistically, growing, rather than subsiding, is good science.

To quote Neil deGrasse Tyson, "The good thing about science is that it's true whether or not you believe in it."

Patrick Henry might amend his quote, “Give me liberty or give me death,” if he were, as we are, dealing with a virus which doesn’t care whether or not you believe in it.
