Just a heads up for consideration if you or a loved one are affected by the coronavirus:
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the U.S. government agency responsible for overseeing our nation’s health and medical research efforts, had a budget of over $11 billion in 2016. This amount has steadily eroded under our current administration and is now under $7 billion. This dramatic reduction has an obvious impact on our ability to address health issues of national importance.
At a more granular level, those who are involved in fundraising events for such debilitating ailments as diabetes, cancer and heart disease might want to consider how the funds raised through these charitable activities are dwarfed by the individual cuts made for research at the CDC over the past four years.
Maybe we should consider passing out MASA hats? Make America Sick Again?
