Letter: An open letter to Mitt Romney

(J. Scott Applewhite | AP file photo) Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, arrives for a closed meeting with fellow Republicans about the looming impeachment trial of President Donald Trump at the Capitol in Washington, Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020.

Sen. Romney:

When it comes time for a vote in the Senate, will you allow yourself to be bullied? Will you cower with “the lightweight” Lindsey Graham and the like?

This is about the president of all the people of the United States, not just the Evangelical Republican Party.

In 2016, you noted that Donald Trump lacks the temperament to be president. You said, “Dishonesty is Trump’s hallmark.” You asked, “Imagine your children and your grandchildren acting the way he does. Will you welcome that?”

You testified, “Here’s what I know. Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University. He’s playing the American public for suckers.”

So, do you want your children and your grandchildren acting the way he does? Is he playing you for a sucker?

Now you have a chance to stand up and show that you are somebody.
