Letter: A bone to pick with Rep. Chris Stewart

(Susan Walsh | AP photo) Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, holds up the transcript summary of the call between President Donald Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as he questions top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine William Taylor, and career Foreign Service officer George Kent, at the House Intelligence Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington, Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019.

Congressman Stewart,

I have a bone spur to pick with you. You held up the partial transcript. Now, how about you read it and show me and the rest of the American people where corruption is mentioned. You were so concerned about Democrats’ focus on one sentence, and yet you are focused on one word that doesn’t even appear.

Mr. Taylor just informed you that corruption exists “in every country, including ours,” to which your response was, “Thank you, and some we're clearly more concerned about than others.” From my vantage point, you are clearly not concerned about the corruption in ours!

Enough of your double-standard bull---t. Enough regurgitation of #TrumpStateTV.

It's past time for you to actually represent all of Utah and not just ever Trumpers like yourself.

You may as well make your congressional slogan “All presidents lie” because that's all I will ever hear from you when you speak about the necessity of “presumption of innocence” while you continue to accuse and denigrate any and all individuals who, as Trump would refer to them as “Never Trumpers.”

if you can't do your job and actually honor the uniform you wore and your oath of office, it's time to resign.

David Allred, West Valley City
