The list of drug makers, health care organizations, pharmacies and individuals that have been forced to settle opiate lawsuits out of court continues to grow. Many corporations have paid or are expected to pay for a fraction of the emotional and physical harm including deaths that their products in the name of “pain relief” have caused.

Nobody has yet examined the highly significant role that our own former Sen. Orrin Hatch played in this national tragedy. Addiction ruined lives, drug companies are paying billions to “settle” and, so far, Hatch is one of the few that escaped responsibility while he maintained his seat and enriched his coffers.

He bears considerable responsibility and deserves rigorous investigation for this past conduct. He was an enabler for his own personal gain.
