Letter: The pro-Trump song of Utah: ‘Gobble, gobble gobble’

(Rick Egan | Tribune file photo) Rep. Chris Stewart says a few words during the annual Security Summit at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, Friday, Aug. 2, 2019.

Rep. Chris Stewart does the pro-Trump song of the Utah state bird better than anyone else, short of the president himself: “Gobble, gobble, gobble!”

What a turkey.

We hear the gobbling constantly in these parts, from local agency and municipality administrators as they “plan” ill-planned faux communities and infrastructure; to state legislators stealing city lands in order to develop the inland port in order to poison the endangered liberals in Salt Lake City; and all the way to Congress, where pervasive wacko conservatism has produced familiar fodder to propagate still more turkeys galore.

But for Stewart to play Trump’s charade of attacking Democrats for the 2016 election highjacking, allegedly with the aid of that great software mecca of Ukraine, and to pretend that American voters are so extremely stupid as to do that in order to mask Putin’s acts in Russia, is really beyond the pale.

But it’s not beyond the turkey pen we know as Utah!

All together now: “Gobble. Gobble.”

Ivan Weber, Salt Lake City
