What is it about the legislative and executive branches of the Utah state government that they cannot seem to make the health and safety of its citizens a priority?
Requiring safety inspections for cars was dissolved, and now we have an ever-increasing amount of cars with failed brake lights and headlights. This presents a danger, not just to the owner of the vehicle, but to the drivers in cars around them.
Ineffective paint is used to mark lanes on roads and highways so that when there is the slightest bit of moisture, the lanes become invisible and dangerous to drive on.
Trucks drive 70 mph in all lanes on our urban highways instead of at lower speed limits in right lanes only, as many other states require. Freeway driving has become a scary and dangerous endeavor.
And now, the legislative and executive branches are bringing that insanity on the freeways to the one freeway that has the most safety regulations in place.
Oh, and we now can run red lights if we feel we have waited long enough.
Air pollution is killing Utah citizens, yet the government imposes a higher tax on electric and hybrid vehicles, and fails year after year to take strong measures and implement strong incentives to combat our unhealthy air.
The government is now going to allow hotter nuclear waste disposal in Utah.
Lastly, the government rescinded a citizen initiative to provide adequate and affordable health care to all of its citizens. So I ask the question again, why is the health and safety of Utah citizens not a priority for the state of Utah?
