Letter: Why people don’t vote

(Leah Hogsten | Tribune file photo) Salt Lake County elections official Franco Arellano tabulates votes from ballots, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at the Salt Lake County building.

People get upset and wonder why people don't vote.

The arrogance of the conservative and out-of-touch Utah legislators appalls me. First the rape and pillage of medical marijuana and now the dismantling of the initiative regarding the Medicaid expansion. This is what happens when any one party has the stranglehold on the Legislature.

Why should we vote? This last election is convincing voters, especially younger voters, that their vote means nothing.

I don’t think I need these geniuses in the Legislature to save me. The voter initiatives should become law, period.

If you are angry like me, don’t hit that one-party button. Vote every one of the current majority party out in 2020. In the rural districts, run an alternate Republican candidate and have a primary. So many go unopposed.

Get rid of the incumbents.
