The proposed Emery County Public Land Management Act is unacceptable.

Along with many other Utahns, I oppose the bill as introduced. It fails to protect enough of the 1.5 million acres of splendid wilderness in Emery County. The San Rafael Swell is unequaled in the profound effect it has on the spirit, representing all that is right and grand about unspoiled Western lands. One visit is all it takes to realize the importance of keeping these wild places wild. Specifically, the bill proposed leaves out protection for the San Rafael Badlands, Muddy Creek and Labyrinth Canyon. The bill chops up protected areas with routes and trails that have already been deemed illegal. No good!

This bill is not protective. We want legislation that is much better for conserving America’s wild Western lands.
