Letter: Trump isn’t just a bigot, he’s an evil despot

(Evan Vucci | The Associated Press) President Donald Trump speaks during a cabinet meeting at the White House, Thursday, June 21, 2018, in Washington.

My view of Donald Trump has changed.

During the campaign, I thought of him as a narcissistic, misogynistic, xenophobic bigot.

Now I consider him a lying evil despot whose separation of families is a crime against humanity.

Multiple medical groups, including the American Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have stated that separating children from their families causes negative health impacts that can last a lifetime.

Even though he signed an executive order keeping families together, he has already affected the lives of 2,300 children. Unfortunately, he doesn’t know the difference between a refugee and an illegal immigrant. There must be tears running down the face of Lady Liberty, and Emma Lazarus must be rolling over in her grave.

He somehow boosts his self-image by meeting with Kim Jong Un and praising Vladimir Putin, withdrawing from international treaties and maligning heads of governments who are our allies, thereby diminishing our great country’s reputation throughout the world.

Our president should be a leader of the free world. Unfortunately, he isn’t.
