Letter: Romney’s no ‘deficit hawk’; as usual, that’s empty talk

Romney's annual gathering of top Republicans, wealthy political donors and powerful business leaders kicks off Thursday, June 7 in the Utah ski town of Park City with U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan among the expected attendees at a three-day event that comes just weeks ahead of Romney's primary election in his bid to win the U.S. Senate seat in Utah. Do we really want a mega-millionaire “representing” us in Washington?

With Mitt’s fortune, I think he’d be like Donald Trump — looking out for big business and the one-percenters, not the little guys like you and me. Who do you want as your senator — a one-percenter or someone who’s concerned for those of us who are in the middle income bracket?

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the one-percenters and what they take. And that’s what they do: take, take, take and put the financial burdens on the middle class.

Mitt says he’s a deficit hawk. Everyone that runs for federal office — challengers and incumbents — say they’ll “fight” to reduce the deficit and federal spending, then when elected, they do nothing about either one. It’s all just talk to sway the voters — and we’re so stupid we believe them and vote for them.

Certainly we have much better choices than Mitt. I’m going to forego voting Republican this year and vote for Jenny Wilson, a Democrat, for our new senator rather than vote for another rich, one-percenter republican who’ll watch out for, and take care of, the other one-percenters and ignore the rest of us.
