Letter: Trump doesn’t care about patriotism

President Donald Trump sings the national anthem with the U.S. Army Chorus during a "Celebration of America" event at the White House, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Washington, in lieu of a Super Bowl celebration for the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles that he canceled.(AP Photo/Susan Walsh)

Why are so many people falling for another Donald Trump ploy to distract the nation from the real anti-patriotic things being done by this administration and its lock-step followers?

How can a president who dodged the draft at least four times while his patriotism would have meant something lecture people who choose to exercise their First Amendment rights by calling for awareness of racial bias?

Patriotism is not exhibited by waving a flag or forcing people to adhere to some artificial expression of loyalty. Patriotism is displayed by everyday people who respect the rights of others and allow for diversity of opinions.

If anyone who reads this thinks that the Trump family or the Trump administration cares one iota about individual rights guaranteed by the Constitution, I have some oceanfront property in Nevada that I would like to sell you.
