Letter: Let’s stop using plastic bags — now

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Alison Einerson, Downtown Farmers Market manager, holds up one of the market's original reusable bags. Plastic bags were eliminated altogether in 2016.

In response to Vicki Bennett’s letter, “Best ways to fight the plastic bag scourge are reduction and reuse,” I believe we must as a state, society and renters of the Earth stop using plastic bags at every store we frequent. We, the people, need to take responsibility and bring our own reusable bags. We cannot wait for stores to stop providing plastic bags. If we don’t bring our own bags, we should be charged a small fee for one or carry our purchases out.

No more plastic, please! Don’t wait for our government to force the laws upon us, take personal accountability and bring your own!
