Letter: Say no to Romney — he’ll be asking you to forget a lot that you shouldn’t

(Leah Hogsten | The Salt Lake Tribune) U. S. Senate candidate Mitt Romney delivers his speech to the delegates at the Utah Republican Nominating Convention Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Maverik Center.

I was pleased to learn that Mitt Romney was not handed Utah’s Republican Party’s nomination for the U.S. Senate. This means that he must ask all of you to vote for him in your primary. Please don’t.

He must ask you to forget about his 2016 vitriolic epistle against then-presidential candidate, Donald Trump, four years after asking for his money and endorsement. Please don’t.

He must ask that you forget about his refusal to fight Barack Obama with a small fraction of the fervor with which he lashed out at Donald Trump (Barack Obama has committed many, too numerous to count, scornful actions and words). Please don’t.

He must ask that you forget about his liberal governing record. Please don’t.

You can take the boy out of Massachusetts, but you cannot take Massachusetts out of the boy.
