Letter: The Legislature should be commended for aiming to address climate variation through science

(Chris Detrick | The Salt Lake Tribune) USA's Jaelin Kauf (1) competes in the Ladies' Mogul Finals during the FIS Visa Freestyle International Ski World Cup at Deer Valley Resort, Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018. Kauf finished in first place with a score of 81.37.

I’m writing to express my pride in the Utah Legislature for its enthusiastic support of HCR007, which acknowledges the importance of addressing climate variation through sound science, and of devising solutions that promote clean energy and a strong economy. Considering the natural events that have recently ravaged Houston, California, Puerto Rico and the New England coast, this determined message comes none too soon.

I hope our congressional representatives in Washington will take the unified voice of the people of Utah to heart in pursuing the goal of keeping our planet habitable for future generations.
