Letter: Trump and his enablers betray their oath to protect and defend the nation

Just in time for Presidents Day, our “president” spent nine hours continuously tweeting profanity, misspellings and attacks at the special counsel investigating Russian social media and cyberattacks on America (and his campaign’s witting or unwitting involvement), his own national security adviser, the FBI, Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, Democrats in Congress, CNN and anyone else he could think of.

Do you think this was a good use of his time?

A real president would be speaking to the American people about this gigantic and indisputable attack on our country — only the tip of the iceberg — throwing Russian spies out of our country by the truckload and doubling down on the sanctions against Russia passed almost unanimously by Congress — which President Trump won’t impose!

Presidents take an oath to protect and defend the nation, not their sorry rears.

Our members of Congress took the same oath. I will expect each one to condemn this president’s response to this egregious attack, persist in a demand for retaliation until we get it and get on it about protecting our midterm elections. Their silence, their wishy-washiness shows clearly their complicity with this unhinged and dangerous man occupying our White House.
