Nearly every day I read of the price women/girls pay for being female. Recently I read of two women who were sexually assaulted by the same teacher 30 years apart. Then I read about another groper who flashed women, then assaulted them. And there was the young girl lured from her home to help find a kitten, only to be raped and murdered.
I recently read of the sexual abuse of young girls being schooled in their wifely duties as members of a polygamous sect. Japan and South Korea are haggling over an agreement made concerning women who were used as sex slaves, euphemistically called “victims of Japanese military comfort stations.” A man found guilty of murdering several women was heard to say, “What is all the fuss about? I only killed a few girls.”
In a world where the predator’s future in sports is more important to judges than the horrific experience of the sexually assaulted victim, I feel the price for being female is too high. Will males ever come to look at females as something more than a collection of body parts? I have serious doubts, but can always hope for miracles.
