A doctor in California whose practice is centered around medical marijuana recommendations has been disciplined for approving the treatment for a 4-year-old without consulting a psychiatrist. A new poll shows Utahns can’t agree on whom to blame in the shutdown. And Salt Lake County has a new mayor.

Happy Monday. Dr. William Eidelman is a natural medicine physician in Hollywood who recommended marijuana cookies to the father of the youngster after diagnosing the boy with ADHD and bipolar disorder. California’s medical board found Eidelman was “grossly negligent” for not consulting a psychiatrist and not collecting adequate information from the boy’s teachers and parents. His license has been revoked. The board clarified that it didn’t find fault with recommending marijuana to a child, but with Eidelman’s diagnosis without sufficient basis. [LATimes]
