The number of daily COVID-19 cases in Utah hit its lowest level since Sept. 9, and only one new death was reported Monday.

The seven-day average of vaccine doses in arms rose slightly Sunday, after declining for most of the week. Sunday’s average was 12,411 doses administered a day — up from the 11,937 average on Saturday, but well below the 15,723 average on Feb. 14.

One reason for last week’s decline, a Utah Department of Health spokesman said Monday is that a shipment of 36,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine that the state expected to arrive last week didn’t, because of bad weather back east. Those doses are expected to arrive in Utah on Monday or Tuesday, the spokesman said.
