Rock art site Nine Mile Canyon could become ‘hydrocarbon highway’ under Utah bill

Bill to divert $20 million from infrastructure fund divides oil and coal counties

(Al Hartmann | Salt Lake Tribune) Water trucks make their way along the road through Utah's rock art-filled Nine Mile Canyon in 2010. A new plan pushed by lawmakers would upgrade the road so it be used to move Uinta Basin crude to rail lines near Wellington, resulting in trucks passing through the scenic canyon every 7 minutes.
