Schools districts in Utah are looking for substitute teachers to fill educator gaps in classrooms as the pandemic continues to put pressure on school systems. Salt Lake City and Granite school districts have partnered with the Salt Lake Chamber to ask Utah businesses to let employees miss work to serve as substitute teachers for a day.

And although coronavirus cases are down in Utah after state officials asked people to refrain from testing, Beehive State hospitals are now treating a record number of COVID-19 patients.

Bryan Schott also reports that the state has set aside an estimated $260,000 to increase security at Gov. Spencer Cox’s property in Fairview.

And a bill to drop fines in Utah’s juvenile justice system passed a subcommittee hearing this week.
