Utah reports 174 more cases of COVID-19, and two more deaths

More than 38% of Utahns are now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

After a typically slow Sunday, Utah reported 174 new cases of COVID-19 and two more deaths. Fewer than 4,000 people were tested.

According to the Utah Department of Health, 1.25 million Utahns have been fully vaccinated against the coronvirus — 38.6% of the state’s total population. More than 1.5 million, or 46.5% of the state’s population, have received at least one vaccine dose.

Vaccine doses administered in past day/total doses administered • 3,612 / 2,650,067.

Utahns fully vaccinated • 1,254,406.

Cases reported in past day • 174.

Deaths reported in past day • Two: A man between the ages of 45-64 in Cache County, and a man 25-44 in Utah County.

Tests reported in past day • 2,632 people were tested for the first time. A total of 3,943 people were tested.

Hospitalizations reported in the past day • 127. That’s two fewer than on Sunday. Of those currently hospitalized, 51 are in intensive care, unchanged from Sunday.

Percentage of positive tests • Under the state’s original method, the rate is 6.6%. That’s slightly higher than the seven-day average of 6.2%.

The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. Monday’s rate was 4.4%, slightly higher than the seven-day average of 4.0%

Totals to date • 407,816 cases; 2,313 deaths; 16,952 hospitalizations; 2,715,884 people tested.
