Utah reported just 228 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, the fewest in more than two weeks. (The state health department reported 199 on April 18.)
Sunday was a typically slow day, with only about 5,600 people getting tested for the coronavirus. But there was more good news Monday: There were no new deaths caused by COVID-19.
The number of Utahns fully vaccinated against the virus now exceeds 960,000, roughly 42% of eligible Utahns age 16 and older.

Cases reported in past day • 228.
Deaths reported in past day • None.
Tests reported in past day • 3,155 people were tested for the first time. A total of 5,628 people were tested.
Hospitalizations reported in past day • 132. That’s down five from Sunday. Of those currently hospitalized, 53 are in intensive care units, one fewer than on Sunday.
Percentage of positive tests • Under the state’s original method, the rate is 2.1%. That’s lower than the seven-day average of 6.6%.
The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. Monday’s rate was 4.1%, higher than the seven-day average of 3.6%.

Totals to date • 398,240 cases; 2,204 deaths; 16,229 hospitalizations; 2,570,933 people tested.
