For the second day in a row and the third time in nine days, the Utah Department of Health reported no new deaths caused by COVID-19.
Over the past 10 days, UDOH has reported 28 coronavirus-related deaths, and 14 of those occurred before March 18. (They were added to the list after testing was completed.) A total of 2,159 Utahns have died of COVID-19.
On a typically slow Sunday, when fewer than 5,000 Utahns were tested for the coronavirus, there were only 185 new cases.
Vaccine doses administered in past day/total doses administered • 4,937 / 1,708,002.
Utahns fully vaccinated • 681,799.
Cases reported in past day • 185.
Deaths reported in past day • None.
Tests reported in past day • 2,519 people were tested for the first time. A total of 4,813 people were tested.
Hospitalizations reported in past day • 122. That’s down 21 from Saturday. Of those currently hospitalized, 61 are in intensive care units — 8 more than on Saturday. (According to UDOH, there was a reporting issue with Sunday’s hospitalization number, which was much lower than expected.)
Percentage of positive tests • Under the state’s original method, the rate is 7.3%. That’s about the same as the seven-day average of 7.4%.
The state’s new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. Monday’s rate was 3.8%, about the same as the seven-day average of 3.7%.

Totals to date • 390,289 cases; 2,159 deaths; 15,770 hospitalizations; 2,449,866 people tested.
