Weber County Crime Scene investigator arrested on sex crime charges

The case is being investigated by an outside agency to avoid a conflict of interest.

A Weber Metro Crime Scene investigator was arrested Wednesday for allegedly sexually exploiting a minor.

Marc Swain was booked into the Davis County jail, according to a news release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. The alleged crime was reported Tuesday. It is being investigated by the Layton Police Department in Davis County to avoid a conflict of interest because the Weber Metro Crime Scene Investigation Unit works with multiple law enforcement agencies within the county, including the Sheriff’s Office.

A probable cause statement written by the Layton Police Department says Swain filmed a child showering. Swain is on administrative leave and an internal investigation is taking place, according to the news release.

“We recognize the emotional impact on public trust which arises out of these circumstances,” said Sheriff Ryan Arbon in the news release. “The Weber County Sheriff’s Office is committed to full cooperation with the investigating agency, ensuring due process, and maintaining public trust through transparency.”
