Host, property owner face health violation charges over Lehi Halloween party

Criminal charges have been filed against a person who hosted a Halloween party in Lehi, the city announced yesterday.

Lehi City police shut down a party at a commercial building after getting a nuisance complaint on Oct. 31, according to a city news release. After an investigation, the department turned the case over to the Lehi City prosecutor. The prosecutor charged the event host with a health order violation, a nuisance violation and a disorderly conduct. The property owner was charged with a nuisance violation, a fire code violation and a health order violation.

Coronavirus cases in Utah have shot up over the past month. Gov. Gary Herbert warned that Utah’s health system was near capacity because of the pandemic a week before Halloween. Health experts asked residents to wear masks and avoid large gatherings during the holiday.

The Lehi Police Department declined to comment on the case on Friday.
