Midvale woman fatally stabbed in alleged domestic violence case

A woman was stabbed to death tonight in Midvale and a man was arrested for what police are calling a domestic homicide.

Unified police were called to a home at 100 block of West Settlement Circle just after 6 p.m. after two children ran to a neighbor’s house and said their father was hurting their mother, according to spokesperson Sgt. Melody Cutler.

Cutler said police found a woman, later identified as Utahna Halona, inside the house who had been stabbed and was in critical condition. The fire department arrived on the scene and declared her dead.

Police also found a man, who was in serious condition from what appeared to be self-inflicted knife wounds, Cutler said. She said the man, who is a suspect, was transferred to a hospital.

A 7-year-old girl had a minor injury on her hand and was taken to the hospital. An 11-year-old boy was also in the home when the stabbing occurred, Cutler said. She said the children are with victim advocates.
