In what has become a nightly occurrence of late, hundreds of protesters marched in downtown Salt Lake City Thursday evening as part of a “Justice For Bernardo” rally.
The group marched down Main Street — in support of Bernardo Palacios-Carbajal, who was shot and killed by police on May 23 — to about 100 South, then they marched up 100 South to 700 East, and stayed on 700 East then turned west on 600 South, eventually moving back to 500 South to get back to the Utah attorney general’s office.
While recent rallies have been contentious, Thursday’s rally was less so.
Protesters were pleased to see that some signs remained on the attorney general’s office after they pasted them there Wednesday. Comments that Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall made earlier Thursday, acknowledging that protestors have a right to march, was also seen as a positive.
