Person found dead after Salt Lake City house fire

Firefighters found a body inside a home that caught fire Saturday morning in Salt Lake City.

The blaze broke out around 7:30 a.m. in the basement of a home near 1330 S. 1100 East, fire Capt. Tony Stowe said. Firefighters also found the body in the basement.

How the fire started and the person’s death is under investigation. Stowe did not release any identifying information about the deceased and did not know whether that person lived in the home.

Salt Lake City police said their investigation so far hasn’t found any evidence to suggest foul play was involved.
