Beer spills all over parking lot of Latter-day Saint meetinghouse after truck crashes

(Courtesy of FOX 13 News) A semi-trailer carrying a haul of Bud Light beer overturned in a parking lot of an LDS Church near 11300 South and 1300 East on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019.

Cans of beer have littered the parking lot of a meetinghouse of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sandy after a semitrailer crashed that was carrying cases of the brew.

Sandy Police Sgt. Jason Nielsen said the semitrailer veered and fell from a road and into the church’s parking lot after it was hit by a pickup truck that ran a red light early Thursday morning. Beer cans were strewn across the empty church parking lot.

The Utah-based faith teaches its members to abstain from alcohol as part of its health code, called the Word of Wisdom.

Nielsen says the semitrailer driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The pickup truck driver wasn't hurt. Authorities haven't determined if he will be cited.

The meetinghouse wasn’t damaged.
