Driver killed after stopping in front of a FrontRunner train in Clinton

(Tribune file photo) A southbound UTA FrontRunner train arrives at the Draper Station on June 6, 2013.

A woman died Tuesday morning in Clinton after authorities say she drove her car around the crossing arms at a train crossing and was struck by a FrontRunner train.

Carl Arky, a Utah Transit Authority spokesman, told FOX 13 that the crash happened just before 7 a.m. at a railroad crossing in Clinton. The train was heading north when it struck the vehicle.

Video shows the driver stopping briefly before driving around the crossing arms and stopping for about 15 seconds before the train hit, according to Arky.

The driver was ejected from her vehicle and suffered fatal injuries.

None of the passengers on the train was injured, Arky told FOX 13.

UTA is busing FrontRunner riders between Clearfield and Roy on Tuesday morning, and delays are expected.
