Washington • Former Vice President Joe Biden will make a campaign stop in Utah on Sept. 28 as part of his presidential swing through states that are participating in Super Tuesday.

Biden’s campaign announced 15 campaign stops through September, including in California, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Biden’s Utah visit will be in Park City, the campaign said, adding that these visits to several states may include a community event, fundraisers, a stop at a local haunt or a combination of those. More details about the Utah trip will be made public closer to the visit.

"Vice President Biden believes we are in a battle for the soul of the nation and must make Donald Trump a one-term president,” said Greg Schultz, Biden’s campaign manager. “Vice President Biden is running to rebuild the middle class, and ensure everyone gets a fair shot. Our campaign will maintain a rigorous schedule to engage with voters in every corner of the country and build upon our grassroots momentum.”

Biden is one of several Democratic contenders who have stumped in solidly Republican Utah to gin up support for that crucial primary day — March 3 — with 15 states and American Samoa casting ballots. Utah lawmakers moved the state’s primary up to join Super Tuesday.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts dropped into the state in April and touted her plan for public lands, including restoring the original boundaries of the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national monuments that Trump slashed by 2 million acres.

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro swung by in February and called himself the “antithesis of Donald Trump,” and Rep. John Delaney of Maryland was in the state in January.

A political activist had touted a forthcoming visit to Utah by Sen. Kamala Harris of California, though that turned out to be a hoax and the senator was never scheduled to visit the Beehive State. Authorities are now investigating.
