Arizona man killed in UTV crash at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in southern Utah

An Arizona man was killed in an accident with his utility terrain vehicle Wednesday night in a southern Utah state park.

Mark Lynn Allred, 46, of Cottonwood, Ariz., was driving his UTV in the northern end of the dunes at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, in Kane County just north of the Arizona state line, when the accident happened, according to a release from Utah State Parks.

Witnesses administered CPR, but responders — including Utah State Parks rangers and Kane County Sheriff’s deputies — declared Allred dead at the scene. Emergency medical services were dispatched out of Kane County, but were canceled before they arrived.

Allred was not wearing a helmet, and investigators say they do not believe alcohol was involved.

A passenger on Allred’s vehicle transported themselves to get medical attention, the release said. The passenger was not identified.
