A home invasion robbery turned deadly for one of the robbers on Tuesday night.
Multiple people broke into a home near 200 Rendon Court at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, according to police, and at least one person who was inside the home chased several of them back out.
Shortly thereafter, police received a report of shots fired in the area. They located a car that had crashed into the median in the center of the roundabout at the intersection of 200 North and 600 West.
According to police, a man who was inside the home pursued the robbers and fired at them. The 18-year-old driver of the car, Abubakar Mohammad, was struck and killed, causing the crash. Police have not said if the person who fired the shots has been taken into custody.
Police believe three people who were involved in the home invasion led on foot after the car crashed. An 18-year-old and two 17-year-olds were later arrested at the TRAX station at 500 W. North Temple.
