Officials say 15-year-old hospitalized after being struck by Provo police vehicle

A 15-year-old boy was sent to the hospital Thursday evening after being hit by a Provo police patrol vehicle.

The boy was hit about 6:15 p.m. near 200 E. 300 South in Provo, according to a tweet from the department. He was hospitalized with serious leg injuries, although he is expected to recover.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Nisha King declined to say more about the case. She directed requests to Utah Highway Patrol, who is investigating. A UHP spokesman didn’t immediately respond to The Salt Lake Tribune’s request for comment Thursday evening.
