Police find parent of boy hit by a car in Riverton

A young boy was hit by a car Friday evening while riding a scooter in Riverton.

The boy — described as 7- or 8-years-old and Hispanic — was riding a purple scooter about 5:45 p.m. near 12600 South and 2700 West when he was hit. The boy was flown to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Initially, police couldn’t find the child’s next of kin and asked for help from the public, but found his mother about an hour after he was struck.
